A question about Nato and the EU
My day job involves working with various members of the Atlantic Treaty Association. There is a general feeling that working with Nato and working with the EU go hand in hand. This is especially pronounced amongst recent and aspirant members, but various associations, explicitly or otherwise, see their role as promoting ‘Euro-Atlantic integration’.
I think it’s fair to say that this doesn’t apply in the UK; you would not necessarily expect a pro-EU Brit to be pro-Nato, and vice versa; indeed, I can think of more than a few people for whom the support of one entails opposition to the other.
Can anyone explain why?
