I don’t trust these ELD muppets in the slightest, given the connections to bonkers German neo nazis and Mad Dog Adair.
But as someone who considers themselves an antifascist I can’t and won’t accept the views of Choudary either, and to be honest, in a pitch battle between the EDL and Choudary supporters, I’d not be rooting for the islamic fascists in a million years.
Better the devil you know, etc.

Better the devil you know? No, not really – I think Choudhary and the EDL are both unrepresentative of the communities they purport to represent and are both a long way from the kind of society I’d like.
As I’ve said before, I don’t like the word fascism – it covers so many things that it doesn’t have much descriptive of predictive value. Choudhary et al and the EDL are both unpleasant and wrong, but not necessarily in the same way.
Besides, I’d rather hope we could avoid any pitched battles.
