Towards sixty senate seats

We’re now at fifty-eight.

Further to my earlier post on the issue, the Democrats have moved closer to sixty senate seats with the victory of Mark Begich over incumbent Ted Stevens for the Alaska senate seat (source: AP). As ever, it’s not quite that simple, as not quite all the votes have been counted and, if one candidate is within one-half of one percent of the winner, they can request a recount.

A recount is pending in Minnesota, where DFLer Al Franken faces incumbent GOPer Norm Coleman. A run-off will take place in Georgia on December 2nd.

xD.
