Mrs Watt's ballot just arrived. I liked the fact that the Green Party in Wisconsin is called 'Wisconsin Green'... perhaps trying to entice a few 'Cheeseheads' to vote for them?

In my opinion? Like many things, electoral administration isn't necessarily the most interesting thing to a lot of people but it is important. People can becomes very interested when it goes wrong but I would not necessarily say that it's good for democracy.

The opening of the polls is rather more interesting. People will be voting in dribs and drabs over the next four or so weeks. Postal, early and absentee votes could easily make the difference. In the UK, the political parties have cottoned onto this - I presume it's the same in the US - as it gets some votes 'in the bag' and allows you to gauge how different groups are reacting.
