Where are you on the global rich list?
I earn a decent salary – the first figure is a two and there are four numbers after it; according to GlobalRichList.com, it puts me in the top 1% for world earnings. Specifically, I am the 58,783,504 richest person in the world.
Of course, specifying things to that level is a bit of fun, but the point it makes about which centile I’m in is interesting. Someone with – by western standards – a moderately high salary is, on the world scale, stonkingly rich.
Hat-tip to the ever-wonderful pointlesssites.com.
xD.

You’re right – these things are a bit of fun – so its no harm done that they don’t take in some of the complexities.
Obviously cost of living and quality of life are key here. If you can get free health care you’re obviously a lot richer than if you can’t (especially if you desperately need that health care!).
If you tried to live a developing world life style on developing world income in the West things would be a lot worse for you – so it’s not all just about bank balances – but I don’t expect things like this which are nice bits of frippery to have to take this in, obviously, I’m not totally humourless (probably)
